In 2023, the state lithium company's income only reached US$22 million, a drop of 71.8% compared to what was achieved in 2022, which was US$79.8 million.

For this year, the state-owned Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB) projected to more than triple its income and obtain US$75 million from sales of the production of lithium carbonate and potassium chloride.

According to the YLB report in the initial 2024 Accountability hearing, in 2023 a decrease in revenue was observed, which stood at US$22 million. However, "YLB authorities project a rebound for this year, expecting an increase to Bs US$ 75 million."

In 2023, the state lithium company's income only reached US$22 million, a drop of 71.8% compared to what was achieved in 2022, which was US$79.8 million.

In 2021, revenue reached US$26.9 million, marking the beginning of an upward trend. This trend was consolidated in 2022, with a notable increase in revenue, reaching US$ 78 million from sales of lithium carbonate and potassium chloride.

Period

Meanwhile, in the period 2013 – 2020, the company's income reached US$ 13.9 million. This figure differs noticeably from the income that the current administration intends to consolidate in the period 2021-2024 (US$ 202.6 million).

Sales are the result of good management, serious commitment and a firm direction of the industrialization policy. This event occurred in parallel with the reactivation of the projects under construction and the start-up of the Lithium Carbonate Industrial Plant, which has a capacity of 15,000 tons per year.

In the opinion of the Bolivian Government, the development of evaporite resources is aimed at being a pillar of the country's economy, since in addition to this project, it is planned to build at least other Direct Lithium Extraction (EDL) plants, which will increase substantially production and income for the country.
