In a space of five years, the Andean country could export poultry, pork and beef for US$3 billion.

The Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru, Ángel Manero Campos, indicated today that the government of Dina Boluarte is discussing with Asian companies the possibility of exporting beef to China next year, because the country is free of foot and mouth disease.

Likewise, he indicated that Peru could export chicken, pork and beef worth up to US$ 3,000 million, in five years after working on health protocols.

"The export of poultry, pigs and cattle fundamentally requires sanitary control, declaring the country free of certain diseases, in cattle for example, we are already free of foot and mouth disease, and we can now export beef, we are talking with Chinese companies to become beef exporters to China,” he indicated.

He said that these conversations with Asian companies to export beef to China are taking place within the framework of the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Peru for the inauguration of the Port of Chancay.

“The goal is to export meat to China next year,” he stated in RPP.

In that sense, he said that they have set a goal to strengthen the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa) in order to implement protocols to declare Peru free of avian flu to export chickens to the world.

Likewise, they will work on the issue of pigs, in order to ensure the health of Peruvian products to the international market.

“Between chickens, pigs and cattle in five years we could export for US$ 1,000 and 3,000 million, which is very important,” he stressed.

STRENGTH OF THE GOVERNMENT

On the other hand, he pointed out that the Peruvian Government led by President Boluarte is “quite strong”, because after several years it is unlocking large irrigation projects such as Chavimochic III.

“This Government is removing Chavimochic after eight years, in two days according to the agenda, we are going to remove Chinecas after decades; We are going to release Majes (Siguas II), yesterday I was in Majes with the premier and other ministers, we are going to release Majes (Siguas II) after seven years of being unemployed, something that none of the last five governments has done, this government it is doing"

He also announced that this year the Alto Piura irrigation project will be carried out with the help of the Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista.

“For us, this Government is quite strong, so much so that we are carrying out these postponed and blocked projects and we have a very good relationship with Congress,” he stated.

He said that the president of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzén, obtained 70 votes in Congress to grant the vote of confidence.

“So, we have permanent coordination with different groups that ensure governability for the country, not with all the groups in Congress, but at least with the groups that ensure governability for the country, so we are calm there,” he pointed out.
