Despite the WB's estimate of a decrease of 2.5%, the Bolivian Ministry of Economy and Finance stood out as one of the economies in the South American region with the best growth prospects.
The Bolivian Government reaffirmed this Wednesday its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth projection of 4.86% in 2023, despite the new estimate from the World Bank (WB) that dropped to 2.5% for the South American country.
However, the Bolivian Ministry of Economy and Finance in an official statement released this day highlighted that the WB maintains Bolivia as one of the economies in the South American region with the best growth prospects in 2023, in the midst of a complex international context that anticipates a general slowdown.
"The World Bank positions Bolivia among the three economies with the best growth projection in the region with 2.5% for 2023, below Paraguay (4.8%) and Ecuador (2.6%) and above Peru , Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Chile," highlighted the institutional note.
The Vice Minister of Budget and Fiscal Accounting, Zenón Mamani, told Xinhua today that the WB projections, although they are below that programmed by the fiscal pact between the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) and the Government, keep the country among the best in the region.
According to the Ministry of Economy, in a complex international environment, the Bolivian economy continues on the path of reconstruction and economic reactivation, as demonstrated by the indicators with "the strength of stability."
