Beneficiary users could experience relief from 4% to 20%.

The energy companies of Grupo EPM joined the agreement of the Colombian Government to reduce the cost of the energy bill for strata 1, 2 and 3. Beneficiary users could experience a relief of 4% to 20%.

The companies covered include Afinia, CENS, CHEC, EDEQ, ESSA and Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), which are waiting for the Government to present the project on July 20.

It should be remembered that the Government plans to pay the debt of the tariff option estimated at US$ 679.6 million. Meanwhile, energy marketing companies with immediate need for financing will have special public banking lines enabled. In this way, they will be able to enjoy low interest rates and grace periods of up to 12 months.

While the process takes effect, the Government will provide the financing. So the marketing companies depend on the regulations by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG).

The users who must continue payments on the electric energy debt are strata 4, 5 and 6, commerce, industry and the official sector.
