Peru admitted the Yumpag mining project with a US$ 84 million investment

Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, the operating company plans, a second phase of the silver deposit located in Pasco.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (Minem) through the General Directorate of Mines (DGM), within its powers and after carrying out the corresponding evaluations, approved the mining plan and authorized the exploitation activities of the Yumpag project, located in the district of Yanahuanca, province of Daniel Alcides Carrión, in the Andean region of Pasco.

Compañía de Minas Buenaventura  operator of the Yumpag project, reported that it would begin the exploitation operations of this deposit in the short term in a first phase with an investment of US$ 84 million and plans a second phase with an investment of more than US$ 30 millions.

The Yumpag silver project was authorized by a directorial resolution, which authorizes the uninterrupted mining (extraction) of 1,000 tons per day, which will allow the mining company to achieve estimated production for 2024 of 6.5 to 7.2 million ounces of silver (184 to 204 tons).

It should be noted that the Peruvian Minem, within its policy of promoting mining investments and its commitment to unblocking projects, works in an articulated manner, together with other entities assigned to different sectors, to reactivate mining activity in the stages of exploration, construction and exploitation.
