The reactivation of Lot 192, located in the jungle, will contribute to increased oil production in Peru.

Petroperú will conduct a public tender process to find a new strategic partner for the operation of Lot 192, the country's largest oil field, located in the province of Datem del Marañón (Loreto region).

The Peruvian state oil company stated that this decision comes after Perupetro accepted Petroperú as a corporate guarantor for Altamesa, a Canadian company that was part of the operating consortium.

"We will have a world-class company with experience in the hydrocarbon sector, which will be defined in the next three months as a strategic partner for the operation of Lot 192," said Alejandro Narváez, chairman of the board of Petroperú.

He indicated that there had been an approach from established companies interested in working with Petroperú.

As part of this process, Perupetro will implement modifications to the current hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation contract in the coming days, formalizing the exit of the Altamesa company and the incorporation of a new strategic operator that will contribute to the reactivation of oil production in the northern jungle.

Petroperú maintained that the implementation of Block 192, which has a historical production of more than 1 billion barrels of oil, is key to the reactivation of the country's oil production and energy security.
