Inflation in Peru rose to 3.29% annually in February, almost three tenths more than in January

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Peru has resumed its upward path in February and has risen almost three tenths compared to January, standing at 3.29% year-on-year compared to 3.03% the previous month.

However, Peruvian inflation would still be very close to the target range of the central bank of Peru, between 1% and 3%, despite moving away by a couple of tenths since January. In this context, it is worth remembering that the entity opted in its last monetary policy meeting to cut rates by 25 basis points, to 6.25%.

Meanwhile, as disclosed this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) of Peru, monthly inflation has been 0.56%, which represents a notable increase from the 0.02% registered in January.

The 0.92% monthly increase in the food and non-alcoholic beverages division has mainly explained this 0.56% increase. They are followed by other price groups such as transportation (0.48%), recreation or culture (0.4%) or restaurants and hotels (0.33%).

On the contrary, the smallest increases occurred in communications (0.01%), in the group of furniture, household items and ordinary home maintenance (0.16%) and in clothing and footwear (0.14%). %).
