This was stated this Wednesday by Manuel Adorni, spokesperson for Javier Milei's government, after it became known that monthly inflation in February was 13.2%, well below the 25.5 in December.
The Argentine government is "deeply satisfied" with the work done to date to fight inflation, although a number was still given in February that is "very far" from the standards that a normal country should have.
This was stated at a press conference this Wednesday by the spokesman for Javier Milei's administration, Manuel Adorni, just one day after learning that monthly inflation in February was 13.2%, well below the 20.6%. recorded last January and 25.5% in December.
Along these lines, he wanted to highlight "the magnificent work" of the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, of the president of the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina, Santiago Bausili and "of all those who make up the economic team."
"We are doing everything so that the end goal is to definitively exterminate inflation in Argentina after decades of policies that made this a decadent country," said the government spokesperson.
Although year-on-year inflation has risen to 276.2%, the drop in the index in monthly terms represents a certain relief for the government, which accuses the previous administration of bad inflation data, seeing this as an inherited situation.
For the Argentine government, this scenario represented a serious problem of poverty and indigence, as there was hyperinflation in the country that they are already solving.
"The data [for February] in itself is horrifying, but it must be put in context, since just two months ago Argentina was facing the worst crisis in its history and was on its way to hyperinflation," he said during a radio interview. this same Wednesday the president of the country, Javier Milei.
The president has even pointed out that the February figure has extraordinary and non-recurring elements, the result of the increase in some rates and the recomposition of prices that was overdue by the previous Executive, so inflation is lower.
