Inflation in Brazil rises again in November and stands at 4.87% year-on-year

This indicator has been between 4% and 5% year-on-year for several months, with significant ups and downs, making it difficult to predict its future development.

Brazil's national Consumer Price Index (CPI) has again experienced an increase compared to the previous month, reaching 4.87% year-on-year in November, compared to 4.76% in October.

In that month, the increase compared to September was just over three-tenths of a percentage point, while this time it was barely one-tenth. Inflation in Brazil has been between 4% and 5% year-on-year for several months, with significant ups and downs, which makes it difficult to predict its future evolution, with all analysts predicting an increase in the index in the coming months.

In this context, the Central Bank of Brazil raised interest rates by 50 basis points at its last monetary policy meeting in November, to 11.25%, and a new move is expected this month.

Meanwhile, according to a report released on Tuesday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), monthly inflation has fallen to 0.39%, compared to 0.56% in October.

Of the nine groups that make up the index, five experienced a month-on-month decline, with accommodation falling by 1.53%. Meanwhile, the group with the largest increase in November was food and beverages, with a rise of 1.55%.
