A total of nine plans are being considered for the 2025-2027 period.
The tourism sector has shown a recovery dynamic in 2024, and the arrival of more foreign tourists and an increase in domestic flights are expected in the following years.
In order to have an adequate tourism infrastructure, the development of nine investment projects estimated at US$ 1.26 billion is estimated for the period 2025 - 2027, reported today the Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP) of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL).
"Of this set of projects, 92% corresponds to Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), where the initiatives for Operation and Maintenance of the Lima Convention Center (US$ 354 million) and the Improvement of public tourist services at the Choquequirao Archaeological Park (US$ 265 million) are about to be awarded," said the head of the Iedep of the CCL, Oscar Chavez.
He also added that the “Third Group of Airports” project, valued at US$ 550 million, is expected to be awarded in 2027.
NEW HOTELS
Likewise, the opening of six hotels from renowned international chains is planned, of which five will be located in Lima and one in Tumbes.
Among the most notable projects is the Costa del Sol initiative, which will allocate US$60 million for the construction of two hotels in the new Jorge Chávez airport city.
In addition, the arrival of the Nhow hotel brand in Lima has been announced, being its first foray into America, thus positioning it as the second largest within the NH Hotel consortium.
"Although the exact amount of the investment has not been announced, it is expected to be a significant figure," he said.
Another expected opening is Novotel Punta Sal Beach Resort, with which Accor will allocate US$ 25.5 million to expand its presence in our country.
CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECONOMY
For IEDEP, these investments are of utmost importance given that they are timely now with the projected arrival of 4.4 million international tourists, which will generate an economic movement of US$ 5.3 billion, and more than 1.3 million jobs in the country.
In addition, 48.6 million domestic tourist trips are expected to be made, according to official sources.
Likewise, an increase in hotel capacity is expected by 2030, with the number of bed places increasing to 623,499.
Likewise, it is estimated that 100% of specialized tourism products will improve and be diversified.
“As can be seen, tourism in Peru is moving steadily towards recovery, driven by the increase in visitors, strategic investments and planning aimed at innovation and sustainability. With a focus on diversifying the offer and modernizing the sector, the country is consolidating itself as a key destination in the region. In this sense, the articulation between the public and private sectors will be crucial to strengthen its growth and competitiveness,” noted Chávez.
