Main construction companies in Chile have contracts to be executed for US$5,000M until 2013

The amount is concentrated in the initiatives, both in Chile and abroad, of the nine main companies in the sector in that country and in most cases the amounts exceed those observed on the same date in 2010.

The main construction companies in Chile contemplate contracts to be executed for US$5,000 million in 2013, according to an analysis of that country's construction sector.

The amount to be invested includes the initiatives, both in Chile and abroad, of the nine largest construction companies in the South American country: SalfaCorp, Besalco, Socovesa, Claro Vicuña Valenzuela, Belfi, Ingevec, Moller & Pérez-Cotapos, Echeverría Izquierdo and Icafal .

In this framework, the contemplated works are aimed, fundamentally, at the mining and energy sectors, according to El Mercurio .

Despite the optimistic scenario, which implies in most cases that the amounts exceed those observed on the same date in 2010 and are the highest that companies have recorded, there is concern about the global economic situation.

Ramón Yávar, president of Moller & Pérez-Cotapos, pointed out that the ups and downs of the economy abroad "will impact Chile, despite its healthy economy, bringing with it a decrease in our activity, particularly in construction, one of the most sensitive to these impacts.

He added that "we expect growth, but at lower rates than in the last two years."
