The Ministers of Economy and Energy and Mines announced details of the restructuring of the controversial Petroperú.
The Minister of Energy and Mines of Peru, Rómulo Mucho Mamani, pointed out that the interest of the Government of Dina Boluarte is to contribute to making Petroperú a strong, reliable, profitable company, and to undertake a restructuring aimed at strengthening it and turning it into a leading company. in the national and international market.
In a joint conference with the Minister of Economy, José Arista, the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) stressed yesterday that substantial reforms need to be carried out to improve the governance of Petroperú and ensure that the company can be conducted efficiently. .
“What corresponds is to lift Petroperú institutionally and ensure that it can recover its positive indicators. The government is dictating measures to ensure the supply of fuel nationwide, providing guarantees so that the company can access working capital,” he noted during the conference.
Mucho Mamani added that this is an “exceptional contribution” and considered that, with the restructuring begun, the state oil company will be able to comply with the payment of its loans and recover its financial sustainability, with the goal of strengthening its positioning in the market through of a product offering that makes it more competitive.
“Petroperú must leave the negative image generated by previous administrations in the past. “We began a restructuring that includes an austerity policy, with discipline and quality of spending, so that the company can reorient its expenses and prioritize all processes that lead to its institutional strengthening,” he said.
For his part, the head of the MEF, José Arista, pointed out that the new members of the board of directors of the state oil company are outstanding technicians professionally and ethically: Carlos Linares, David Tuesta, Germán Boza and Oliver Stark, who must assume their roles. functions and get to work as soon as possible.
He specified that Petroperú will access an exceptional guarantee of US$ 1,300 million so that it can continue with its operations and pay its outstanding debts, in compliance with the Emergency Decree that establishes “Extraordinary Measures in Economic and Financial Matters Destined to Guarantee the Continuity of the Supply of "Fuels and the Development of Economic Activities at the National Level and Making the Governance of the Petróleos de Perú Company More Efficient."
