Mercedes-Benz Camiones y Buses, a subsidiary of the German firm, has announced the construction of a new production plant in Argentina for the manufacture of Accelo and Atego trucks and OH and OF bus chassis that will begin operating in the first quarter of 2026.
With this announcement, a cycle of US$ 110 million invested in the River Plate country by Mercedes-Benz since the creation of the company in December 2021 is completed. The new factory will complete the Industrial Center that the company is developing in the Buenos Aires town of Zarate.
"This new plant is the founding milestone of the future of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses in Argentina and, at the same time, concrete proof of the commitment we have to the country.
We are crowning a cycle of investments to shape the future of our company," said the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses, Raúl Barcesat.
The construction of the new plant culminates the stage of developing an exclusive and totally independent operation for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses since the entire Industrial Center will operate on its own land.
The approach of the new facilities includes, from the beginning, all the measures related to developing an operation that mitigates the environmental impact of any production process. This means that they fall within the demanding Daimler Truck standards in this matter that are in force in the different production plants that the company has in the world.
The project for the new Industrial Center contemplates the relocation of the truck and bus chassis production lines, the only parts remanufacturing plant in the country called Reman and all the areas that today belong to the Mercedes-Benz Trucks operation. and Buses at the Juan Manuel Fangio Industrial Center in Virrey del Pino.
Currently, Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses of Argentina directly employs more than 500 employees and indirectly another 2,000 distributed in its 24 official dealerships and more than 45 sales and after-sales points throughout the country.
