The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) manages 16 concessioned airports, of which 10 generate income for the municipalities in which they are located.
The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) announced that, before the end of the first quarter of 2024, it will complete the disbursement of US$ 131 million for 13 municipalities in Colombia in airport compensation to territorial entities.
The money will be used to strengthen the territories in which some airports are located, in terms of infrastructure, transportation systems and air connectivity.
It is worth mentioning that the entity manages 16 concessioned airports, of which 10 generate income for the municipalities in which they are located. The municipality of Rionegro will be the first territorial entity of Antioquia to benefit, which, through the compensation from the José María Córdova international airport, will receive US$ 12 million.
The consideration corresponds to 20% of the total income generated by the airports, “derived from the commercial use made by the concessions, and includes the period from January 1, 2022 to March 2024,” ANI explained in a statement.
According to Francisco Ospina Ramírez, president of the ANI, these are resources that the National Government, through the National Infrastructure Agency, “has been managing and transferring to the territorial entities. They must be allocated by the mayors for the construction and/or improvement of roads, the construction and operation of service infrastructures related to public transportation and the implementation and operation of collective or mass public transportation systems that provide access and improve connectivity with the airports.”
