Spain and Brazil have reiterated their desire to advance the negotiations between the European Union and Mercosur to reach an agreement that "is not merely economic", but reflects the close ties between both regions, cultural and political, among others. .

This was stated this Tuesday by the Minister of Economy, Business and Commerce, Carlos Body, and the Minister of Finance of Brazil, Fernando Haddad, in a joint press conference held at the Brazilian embassy in Rome.

According to Haddad, both regions have "very great" ties from a cultural point of view and a harmony around certain values, so this agreement could greatly encourage the countries that make up both blocks, not only in terms of business, but to enhance the alliance in all areas.

"There is a lot of good will from the majority of the members of the two blocs. We understand that we need to push for an end so that this ends up happening," he stressed.

For its part, the Corps has reiterated this "joint will" to continue promoting the trade agreement, since they are aware of the advantages it can have for both areas.

"I believe that it was also reflected in the recent official visit that President Sánchez made to Brazil, where together with President Lula they also expressed this joint desire to lead this effort to reach an agreement on trade matters between the two areas that would represent the largest trade agreement in the world," he defended.
