The changes are part of the development of the 2040 Energy that Transforms strategy, which seeks to position Ecopetrol as a leader in the diversification of energy in the region.

It is worth mentioning that Ecopetrol is the most important company in Colombia, with profits that, by 2023, amounted to $19.1 billion. Its majority shareholder is the State, with 88.49% of the shares. This translates into an important source of income for the Nation, since last year the company transferred resources for $58 billion, of which $22 billion were for dividends, $26 billion for taxes and $10 billion for royalties. All this flow of money represented 11% of the General Budget of the Nation.
