Of the countries in the Southern Cone, the “most economical” or the one that requires the smallest monthly budget is Paraguay, in which US$446 is needed without including rent, according to Bloomberg .
It is not new that in recent years, the money needed to cover basic expenses in Chile has been increasing, due to factors such as inflation, the devaluation of international currencies or raw materials.
However, this is not an exclusive scenario for Chileans. It is a reality that is repeated in Latin America, from the most stable economies to the weakest.
That's what Bloomberg addressed in a new publication, where they evaluated how much money families in Latin American countries need per month to cover basic expenses.
The countries with the lowest basic expenses Where is Chile located?
Of the southern cone countries that stand out on the list, the “most economical” or the one that requires the smallest monthly budget is Paraguay, in which US$ 446 is needed without including rent.
Leonardo Trevisan, professor of International Relations at the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) of Brazil, told the media that this South American country benefits from having an open economy with greater competition, which causes prices to be cheaper.
“Paraguay is a country that has one of the lowest import tax rates in Latin America. "Paraguay made the decision to become an axis and integrator of larger economies with the rest of Latin America and this has had a direct effect on the country's economy," he said.
After Paraguay, Chile seems not to be at least among the 10 countries with the cheapest basic expenses in the region. And the following are: Argentina (US$ 469), Bolivia (US$ 481), Peru (US$ 495), Colombia (US$ 527), Ecuador (US$ 541), Brazil (US$ 553), Nicaragua (US$ 553.3), Venezuela (US$ 601) and Guatemala (US$ 638).
El Salvador (US$ 645) and Honduras follow with (US$ 645.2). Chile (US$ 703) recently emerged in thirteenth position, followed by Mexico (US$ 706).
The most expensive that close the list are Panama with (US$ 779), Costa Rica with (US$ 865) and Uruguay with (US$ 887).
