"Argentina is among Germany's most important partners on the American continent," said the German government.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will receive Argentine President Javier Milei on June 23, a spokesman for the German government confirmed today, Friday, who highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between both countries.

Milei will be welcomed with military honors at the chancellery, where the two leaders will meet privately before appearing before the press two hours later, spokesman Wolfgang Büchner announced at a press conference in Berlin.

"Argentina is among Germany's most important partners on the American continent," said Büchner, who highlighted the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Milei is scheduled to arrive in Germany the day before, when he will be awarded the Hayek medal in the city of Hamburg, conferred by the liberal association of the same name.

Several organizations of the Argentine diaspora in Germany and German civil society have called for protests against Milei's visit.
