Volkswagen will invest US$556 million in its plant in Paraná (Brazil) to begin producing the Novo Virtus model starting in 2025 and an unprecedented pickup truck.

The regional contribution is part of an investment of US$ 2,965 million by Volkswagen until 2028. In addition, Volkswagen will invest US$ 2 million in health and professional qualification projects in the State as a counterpart to the Paraná Competitive Program.

The CEO of Volkswagen in Brazil, Ciro Possobom, has been in charge of announcing this investment, within the framework of the celebration of 25 years of production in Paraná, where more than three million vehicles have been manufactured.

"It is an immense pleasure to celebrate 25 years. This factory is a global reference in competitiveness and operational results, with the same level of quality as the Volkswagen factories in Europe," he said.

For his part, the executive president of Volkswagen for the South American region, has indicated that with the start of production of the new truck and the additional volumes of Novo Virtus, São José dos Pinhais will continue to be made an export center of technology from Paraná to the world.

"The increase in productive volumes will also boost the local supply chain in Paraná, generating economic, technological and social development for the State, in addition to the strong export movement," he added.

The German manufacturer currently has 54 direct and indirect suppliers in Paraná. Paraná suppliers represent 20% of Volkswagen's purchases in Brazil. Volkswagen also contributes heavily to logistics operations in Porto de Paranaguá, where the Volkswagen Group operates a terminal.
