DP World, operating company of the South Dock of the Port of Callao, inaugurates the Bicentenario Dock today at 10:00 a.m., with the presence of authorities and the regional government, making it the largest container terminal to date. from Peru.
The ceremony will take place at Jr. Manco Cápac 113, Callao.
After an investment of US$ 350 million, the Bicentenario Dock is the expansion of the South Dock of the Port of Callao, and will allow up to three vessels to be served simultaneously. Likewise, the Bicentenario Dock will have 3 new dock cranes and 12 electric yard cranes.
In addition, the Bicentenario Dock will have a total of 1,050 meters of dock and 400,000 square meters of patio; and the new capacity will allow reaching 2.7 million TEUs annually, which will represent a growth of 80%.
“All new equipment will be electric and will reach carbon neutrality by 2030,” says DP World.
DP World is the main container terminal in Peru and moves around 60% of the total containers in the Port of Callao.
In 2023, it moved a total of 1.64 million TEUs, establishing a national and regional record, being the only DP World port that has reached this annual figure.
The Minister of Transportation and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, had already announced that this new port infrastructure will allow the creation of the Callao-Chancay hub , thus becoming the second most important port hub in the Pacific Ocean region.
