In the first half of this year alone, the Tax Administration has collected almost US$287 million of Telefónica's debt, which has remained in controversy for more than 20 years.
The National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) won another battle against the telecommunications company Telefónica del Perú, by executing a new letter of guarantee, this time, for more than US$ 90.5 million, an amount with which paid certain tax debt that corresponds to the Income Tax for the year 2000.
The collecting entity specified that said mandate is contained in Resolution 76, issued by the 22nd Contentious Administrative Court of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima and published on the institutional portal of the Judiciary, which set delivery to the Sunat for June 19. of the aforementioned letter of guarantee and ordered its execution.
In this way, the collecting entity managed to cancel part of Telefónica's tax debt again, despite the various legal actions implemented by the company to delay payment.
For income tax
It is worth remembering that in April the Sunat had already achieved the execution of a group of guarantee letters for an amount of US$ 194.6 million, corresponding, in that case, to the Income Tax litigation for the years 2000 and 2001.
In the first half of this year alone, the Tax Administration has collected almost US$287 million of Telefónica's debt, which has remained in controversy for more than 20 years.
With these favorable pronouncements for the State, it is evident that the actions of Sunat in determining the debt of the telecommunications company were carried out in accordance with the law and in compliance with all current procedures.
To date, the Telefónica company still maintains litigation with the Peruvian State for almost US$ 835 million.
