According to ProInversión, the increase in hectares for modern agriculture will be supported by four projects: Chavimochic III, Majes Siguas II, Chinecas and Chancay – Lambayeque.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista, pointed out that the implementation of the large agricultural infrastructure projects will enable the creation of more than 200 thousand hectares and generate more than one million jobs.

“In terms of employment, what does more than two hundred thousand additional hectares mean, well, put just five workers per hectare, then we are talking about more than a million jobs,” he said on TV Perú.

According to the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), the increase in hectares for modern agriculture will be supported by four projects: Chavimochic III (111,000 hectares), Majes Siguas II (38,500 hectares), Chinecas (83,000 hectares) and Chancay – Lambayeque (20,000 hectares).

“It is a good idea by President Dina Boluarte to launch the construction of these large agro-industrial projects. We have from Majes in Arequipa, even in the north,” said the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

José Arista said that, during the visit of the Peruvian government delegation to China, officials from the Asian giant asked what Peru can produce to supply food to the Chinese market of 1.4 billion people.

“The Chinese market can absorb fifty billion dollars of agro-industrial exports and we export ten billion dollars to the world. So, if we incorporate two hundred thousand more hectares with these projects we are practically doubling our capacity, but even so it will not be enough, because we would reach twenty or thirty billion dollars,” he said.

“The future for Peru is very promising and the truth is that it gives me great joy to tell you these numbers. I hope we all push the car in this direction, because the opportunities that the world market is offering us are first class,” he emphasized.
