"We are already reactivating, a few days ago the contract for Lot 8 was signed, so that lot is reactivated with an initial production of approximately 800 barrels per day," said the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons of that country, Iris Cárdenas.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) indicated that the oil industry in Peru is being reactivated, mainly the lots located in the department of Loreto.

“We are already reactivating, a few days ago the contract for Lot 8 was signed, so that lot is reactivated with an initial production of approximately 800 barrels per day,” indicated the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cárdenas, to the Andina Agency.

It should be noted that PeruPetro and the Upland Oil and Gas company signed a Temporary License contract last week for the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Lot 8 for four years. This lot is located in the districts of Trompeteros, Urarinas and Parinari (province and department of Loreto).

The minister reported that “Lot 192 would also be producing something like 3,000 barrels per day this year, starting next November.”

It should be remembered that on March 22, 2024, Petroperú, Perupetro and Altamesa Energy signed the transfer of contractual position of the License Contract for the Exploitation of Hydrocarbons in Lot 192, which is located in the province of Datem del Marañón (Loreto ).

Likewise, Iris Cárdenas stated that “Lot 95 is already a reality in the jungle,” considering that said oil field is located in the town of Brittany, district of Puinahua, province of Requena (Loreto).

“There are two other lots that are closed, 39 and 67 (both in Loreto), but we precisely want to talk to the Ministry of Culture so that they can be reactivated,” he said.

“We are meeting with the different institutions and our goal is to reactivate oil activity in the Loreto area, in fact, to reactivate everything that is the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons,” he added.

The vice minister explained that the issue regarding the determinations of indigenous reserves and flows of protected natural areas is observed, but that there is also already a conviction that the technology and techniques currently applied in the hydrocarbon sector are compatible with the environment. .

“We are coordinating between the institutions and I think we are all committed to reactivation. The populations of Putumayo, for example, want it to be reactivated because they have seen the benefits it is generating and are convinced that liabilities are not generated with the new techniques," he said.

“We want our activity in those biodiversity zones or where it is believed that there are peoples in isolation, to be carried out with the standards they deserve, that is what we are coordinating,” he added.
