Last May, the services sector provided to companies registered an increase of 3.13% compared to the same month in 2023, explained by the positive evolution of its four components, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (Inei).
He specified that, between January and May of this year, the sector accumulated growth of 3.11%.
According to Inei, the travel agencies and tour operators component showed an increase of 42.88%, due to the dynamism of travel agencies with a wide variety of air ticket offers at competitive prices, travel packages to favorite destinations, personalized attention, openness of stores and modules in shopping centers, promotions with bank cards for payment in installments and without interest.
In addition, he highlighted the greater influx of incoming tourism (foreigners) and domestic tourism due to the celebration of holidays and the start of ticket sales for the Copa América.
Likewise, Inei reported that tour operators grew due to the variety of personalized packages, private tours, excursions, full days and experiential tourism programs for family groups, vacationers, business groups and foreign tourists.
Other activities
According to the technical entity, professional, scientific and technical activities expanded by 1.93% due to greater architecture and engineering activities, with assignment of new projects, execution of mining projects, approved valuations, supervision of works, technical studies, environmental consultancies, designs architectural designs and preparation of construction plans.
For its part, the technical testing and analysis category expanded due to the increase in demand for samples received and processed at the national level of a physical, chemical, material, food and environmental nature.
Likewise, legal activities grew due to the increase in cases and legal processes in civil, criminal, labor, administrative, constitutional and family law, as well as accounting, bookkeeping, auditing and tax advice activities.
A similar trend was shown by the business management consulting activities category, driven by project management, business consulting in economics and business environment, corporate finance and business consulting in strategic plans, organizational design and business transformation.
Administrative services
According to the Inei report, administrative and support services activities reported growth of 1.08% in May of this year, mainly due to the performance of rental and operating leasing activities of other types of machinery, equipment and tangible goods, before the start of new projects, execution of mining projects and work fronts in the province.
Likewise, the rental and operating lease of motor vehicles increased for the rental of cars, trucks, forklifts, trailers and buses. Telephone exchange activities grew due to customer support services in response to the launch of telephone sales campaigns.
For its part, security and investigation activities expanded through security systems due to the increase in the installation of surveillance cameras, electronic security systems and remote supervision services. Likewise, private security activity grew due to more surveillance positions in the mining sector, transfer of securities to banks, collection services to distribution and marketing companies, and financial document distribution services.
Regarding the activity in advertising and market research, the Inei revealed that it registered an increase of 3.47%, due to the advertising category due to the development of projects and design of advertising campaigns for the celebration of Mother's Day, season autumn-winter, launch of promotions, products and brands improved through digital marketing on websites, search engines, content formats and social networks, and traditional marketing through mass media.
Market research and public opinion surveys showed an increase due to local and regional studies, data analysis, trends, audience measurement, brand solutions, consumer profile, surveys and surveys of a current, political and public interest nature.
