The construction has been carried out in EPC mode, including the evacuation infrastructure, and will generate energy to supply a population of 400,000 inhabitants.
The Spanish company specialized in energy, industry and renewable installations, Negratín, has completed the construction of the Bosques Solares de Bolívar Photovoltaic Solar Complex, located in Sabanalarga (Colombia).
After 16 months of construction, the solar complex, inaugurated by Colombian authorities and representatives of the multinational, is made up of a total of five photovoltaic plants capable of generating up to 100 megawatts.
The construction has been carried out in EPC mode, including the evacuation infrastructure, and will generate energy to supply a population of 400,000 inhabitants.
Negratín will also carry out the operation and maintenance of the facilities.
The project, which is called "Boscos Solares de Bolívar Solar Complex BSB500, BSB501, BSB502, BSB503 and BSB504", has been developed by the local energy generation and marketing company Isagen, which has entrusted its construction to Negratín.
For the execution of this project, more than 500,000 million Colombian pesos of investment (US$ 123 million) and 1,617 employees have been necessary.
This solar complex is equipped with more than 190,000 bifacial solar panels distributed among the 5,500 fixed structure tables for the five photovoltaic plants and around 900 kilometers of cables that connect the 385 Inverters with the 24 transformation centers that the system has.
Another of the most notable aspects of this solar project is its evacuation facilities, made up of a complex infrastructure that consists of an overhead line with five 34.5 kV circuits and 9 kilometers in length, a 34.5/110 booster substation kV with two 30 MVA power transformers, and a 500-meter 110 kV underground line, as well as the adaptation of two existing network substations, including a 110 kV line position extension and three 34, 5 kV.
In this way, the department of Atlántico, in Colombia, is positioned as a leading territory in the energy transition, since, with the construction of this solar plant by Negratín, its installed capacity becomes the largest in the coffee-growing country.
With this infrastructure, it is expected to avoid the emission of up to 110,212 tons of CO2, the equivalent of more than 4 million car trips between the cities of Barranquilla and Cartagena.
However, the contribution to the environment of this project goes further, since of the 300 hectares on which the solar complex is located, 150 are destined for the conservation of vegetation and biodiversity.
