This discovery confirms the magnitude of another discovery in the same waters in 2022 by both companies, with the drilling of the Uchuva-1 well.
Petrobras confirmed this Monday the discovery of natural gas in the Uchuva-2 well, located in the waters of the Colombian Caribbean and which began drilling at the end of June together with the Colombian oil company Ecopetrol.
This discovery confirms the magnitude of another discovery in the same waters in 2022 by both companies, with the drilling of the Uchuva-1 well.
The new Uchuva-2 well adds relevant information for the development of a new exploration and production frontier in Colombia, reinforcing the volumetric gas potential in the region.
The Uchuva-2 well is located in deep waters of Colombia, 31 kilometers from the coast and at a water depth of 804 meters.
The well is in progress, with five phases, and the gas interval was verified in phase 4 by wireline logging, which will be further characterized by laboratory analysis.
The consortium, formed by Petrobras as operator (44.44% participation), in partnership with Ecopetrol (55.56% participation), will continue operations to complete the well drilling project to the expected depth and characterize the conditions of the deposits found, with the expectation of carrying out a training test at the end of 2024.
Petrobras' operations in the Tayrona Block are in line with the company's long-term strategy, aimed at replenishing oil and gas reserves by exploring new frontiers and acting in partnership, ensuring that global energy demand is met. during the energy transition.
