Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo Marin, announced that her sector will have an innovation laboratory called "MINCETUR Lab 1.0", whose creation was approved with the publication of a ministerial resolution in the official newspaper El Peruano .
"This important tool will contribute to the development of new and better solutions to the needs and problems identified in the tourism and crafts sectors, through collaborative work between the public and private sectors and academia," explained the head of Mincetur.
According to the regulations, this innovation laboratory seeks to generate spaces for collaboration between the different strategic actors in the tourism sector, identify challenges and opportunities and contribute to strengthening knowledge management in this field and in the crafts sector.
Implementation of MINCETUR Lab 1.0
The resolution also establishes the formation of a sectoral working group that will be in charge of implementing “MINCETUR Lab 1.0”, which will be chaired by the Vice Minister of Tourism.
It will also be made up of the heads, or alternate representatives, of the General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines, the General Directorate of Tourism Development Policies, the General Directorate of Research and Studies on Tourism and Crafts, the General Directorate of Tourism Strategy and the General Directorate of Crafts.
The regulation also establishes that the Technical Secretariat of the team will be in the hands of the Directorate of Innovation in Tourism, which will provide them with technical and administrative assistance.
The group in question will be valid for two years and must develop and update the respective work schedule for the laboratory's activities, make calls for innovation and implementation by applying user-centered design methodologies and prepare the final report of the work carried out.
Collaborative work
According to the regulations, the group may also invite, as guests, representatives of other public and private entities, academic and research institutions, non-governmental organizations, among others. This is for the purpose of requesting information, collaboration, advice, support, opinions and technical contributions.
It should be noted that “Mincetur Lab 1.0” has a strategic focus based on four axes: digital transformation, public innovation, creative economy, and science, technology and innovation. This innovation laboratory will have operational guidelines detailing its objectives, mission, vision and operation, among other aspects.
