According to a statement, the Finnish company will be the sole provider of this technology for Claro, which will increase its market share.
Nokia announced on Monday that it has signed a comprehensive agreement with operator Claro Argentina to exclusively deploy 5G infrastructure that will provide the country with "reliable, low-latency, ultra-high-speed connectivity for consumers and businesses."
According to a statement, Nokia will be the sole provider of this technology for Claro, which will increase its market share. Nokia was already associated with Claro Argentina and has supported it in the past by deploying its 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
Nokia will deploy AirScale 5G equipment equipped with the low-power ReefShark System-on-Chip, including base stations, baseband units and the latest generation of Massive MIMO radios for “wide” 5G capacity and coverage.
The Finnish telecom company has assured that 5G is destined to transform industry in Argentina or sectors such as oil and gas extraction, among others. Nokia will also offer network planning, deployment, integration and optimization services.
Claro will become the first customer in Latin America to deploy Nokia’s Interleaved Passive Active Antenna (IPAA+) across all its services. This modular design device supports a wide range of frequencies from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz and the 3.5 GHz 5G band thanks to a compact antenna.
"Claro Argentina has big plans to transform society through the deployment of 5G networks, and we are proud to support them as their strategic partner," said Nokia's President of Mobile Networks, Tommi Uitto.
"The investment in 5G networks with our partner Nokia confirms our technological leadership and our commitment to innovation. It will continue to digitalize society by providing high-speed connectivity, greater capacity and uninterrupted service to densely populated areas that will benefit both citizens and businesses," said Julio Carlos Porras, CEO of Claro Argentina.
