Following the unrest, the company publicly asked the authorities to support its efforts to keep the infrastructure and gas pipelines operational.
Ecopetrol Group warned this morning that there could be a restriction on gas supplies in the northeastern part of the country.
The reason given by the company, detailed in a brief statement, is the impact on the oil infrastructure in the department of Arauca, as a result of the public order problems that have occurred there.
"Ecopetrol is carrying out all the necessary activities to minimize the impact on users, maintaining broad coordination with the service providers in the region," the company said.
The company also called on all authorities to support its efforts to keep all infrastructure in place and ensure the supply of gas without affecting the well-being of communities and users.
The damage to Ecopetrol's infrastructure began on Monday, August 26, when videos of the attack on the Caño Limón - Coveñas oil pipeline, the most important oil infrastructure in the country, became known.
The incident occurred in the La Pava area of Saravena, Arauca.
At that time, the company Cenit, a subsidiary of the Ecopetrol group and responsible for transporting oil, reported that it had activated the emergency and contingency plan for the oil pipelines, given that in recent days there have been five attacks on the infrastructure.
