Argentina's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose two-tenths of a point in August compared to July, standing at 4.2% monthly compared to 4% in the previous month, according to a report released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) of Argentina.
Inflation in Argentina has been declining for months, and August saw the second best monthly figure so far this year. At the beginning of 2024, the monthly index was still in double digits.

Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate was 236.7%, compared to 263.4% in July. This represents a significant drop compared to the previous month, and the best figure so far in 2024.
The division with the highest monthly increase in August 2024 was housing, water, electricity and other fuels (7.0%), followed by education (6.6%).
