The President of the Peruvian Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzén, did not want to reveal any names. "We prefer to keep things confidential until we have confirmations," he said.

The President of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Gustavo Adrianzén, has announced that next week the names of the people who will make up the new board of directors of Petroperú could be known, following the mass resignation of the entire team of directors on September 10.

"I hope that next week we will have the appointment of each member of the board of directors of Petroperú," Adrianzén said in an interview broadcast on Thursday.

However, for the moment no names have been revealed. "We prefer to keep things confidential until we have confirmations," said the head of the Peruvian cabinet.

The board of directors of Petroperú, appointed by the general meeting of shareholders, resigned in response to the government's inaction in addressing the company's financial unsustainability.

"We believe that we have fulfilled our assigned responsibility, and under the current conditions, it is not feasible to continue with the task we have received," the directors said in their letter.

Days later, the Peruvian government approved an emergency decree that includes "extraordinary and exceptional" economic and financial measures, with the aim of helping Petroperú overcome the financial situation it is currently facing.

The aim of this decree is to guarantee the commercialisation of hydrocarbons at a national level and the sustainability of the company, "considering the role they play in terms of social assistance to the most remote communities in the country, where private supply does not reach."

The government estimates that within a year the company may not need any help, although it will still require "a lot of commitment" from the workers.
