Peruvian blueberry exports increased by 41.5% in August

Shipments total US$ 545.94 million, according to the Association of Exporters (Adex).

Between January and August 2024, blueberry shipments totaled US$545.94 million, showing a positive evolution of 41.5% compared to the same period of the previous year (US$385.75 million), reported the Association of Exporters (Adex).

The United States consolidated its position as the leading destination with a 60% share and shipments worth US$326 million (319,000 dollars), an increase of 74.2% compared to what was achieved in 2023 (US$187 million (365,000).

The top five also included the Netherlands (US$84.914 million), Hong Kong (US$37.886 million), China (US$29.401 million), and the United Kingdom (US$28.972 million). Other markets included Brazil, Thailand, Taiwan, Spain and Colombia.

The most important companies were Camposol, Hortifruit Peru, Agrovision Peru, Exportadora Frutícola del Sur, Blueberries Peru, Agrícola Cerro Prieto, Aqu Anqa II, Beta Agroindustrial Complex, Hass Peru and Larama Berries.

In addition, shipments were mainly identified from La Libertad for US$ 316 million 85,000, representing 60% of the total. They were followed by Lambayeque, Ica, Ancash, Lima, Piura, Moquegua and Arequipa.

Annual figures

According to figures from the Adex Data Trade Intelligence System, in 2023 (12 months) blueberries were exported for US$ 1,671 million 466,000 dollars, showing an increase of 26.7% compared to 2022 when the figure was US$ 1,319 million 684,000.

The most important destinations were the USA (US$ 958 million 212,000), the Netherlands (US$ 346 million 531,000), China (US$ 133 million 155,000), Hong Kong (US$ 84 million 460,000) and the United Kingdom (US$ 80 million 551,000). Other destinations were Canada, Taiwan, Spain, Thailand and Brazil.
