President Dina Boluarte believes that this figure suggests that by the end of the year the goal of attracting 3.5 million tourists from abroad will be achieved.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte highlighted that so far this year, the country has received more than 2 million international tourists

During the inauguration of the 'Peru Travel Mart' event, the president stated that 2.4 million visitors have arrived in the country so far, and she considered that this figure suggests that by the end of 2024 the goal of attracting 3.5 million tourists from abroad will be achieved.

He estimated that the country is regaining ground in the tourism sector after suffering the blows and paralysis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Tourism is not only a source of income but also a driving force for the good progress of our country and a pillar for the promotion of our culture and history,” said the head of state.

This recovery is in line with the fact that the country's Gross Domestic Product has grown by 3.5% for the fifth consecutive month, he said.

Meeting of operators

The President also highlighted the holding of 'Peru Travel Mart', as this event brings together national and international operators from the tourism sector.

He said that 150 Peruvian companies will participate, as well as 160 international purchasing entities. In this context -he said- it is expected to arrange six thousand business meetings "with the hope of achieving 18 million dollars in commercial agreements" for the sector.

In this regard, he noted that this event is a "great ally" in promoting the various tourist attractions that the country has to offer the world.

He indicated that in the future, cable cars will be added to these, which will connect Cusco and Apurímac with the archaeological complex of Choquequirao.
