The Lima – London Connection is being updated and good announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

Promperú's acting CEO, Ricardo Limo, said today that there is interest from airlines from Japan, China and Turkey to arrive in Peru and that the Lima-London connection is being updated.

This was stated during the week of meetings of leaders of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) taking place in Lima.

"Yes, there are airlines from Japan, China and Turkey, and the same connection that existed with London through Latam is being updated and we hope for good news in the coming weeks," he told the Andina Agency.

He said that Peru received 4.4 million foreign tourists before the Covid-19 pandemic, and after climatic and social problems, this figure decreased, but now a recovery is seen.

"We have already recovered part of that tourist arrival and we hope to reach 4.4 million next year, and we want to surpass that figure," he stressed.

He said that given the prospects for an improvement in the global economy for next year, potential tourists to Peru are expected to be encouraged to travel and come to the country.

EXPORTS

On the other hand, the Promperú official pointed out that the Peruvian economy is expected to grow between 3% and 4% and in the following years this percentage could be exceeded, driven by exports.

He said that exports are one of the main drivers of the economy and from January to September of this year they have grown 14% compared to the same period last year, so it is expected to break the record of more than US$ 64 billion reached.

“By the end of this year we will reach US$71 billion, which is a very significant figure, and in 2025 we will reach over US$75 billion, so I believe that exports will be a fundamental element for this growth as a driving force of the economy,” he said.
