The last quarter is going very well because fishing is picking up again and good months are expected for agriculture.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) projected that Peru's economic growth in the last two months of this year would be higher than 4%, with expansion of around 3.2% in 2024.
"I think we will grow by more than 4% in the last two or three months and that will catapult us to an annual average of 3.2%," said the head of the MEF, José Arista, in conversation with Radio Nacional .
According to the Minister of Economy and Finance, this year "has gone quite well", since in ten of the twelve months the figures have been "in the blue" (growth).
"The last quarter is going very well, because fishing is already picking up and good months are coming for agriculture," said Arista.
According to the head of the MEF, the final growth figure for September of this year will be available on the 15th of this month. According to preliminary calculations by the ministry, Peru would have grown by more than 3.5% in the ninth month of 2024.
It is worth noting that the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) projects an annual economic growth of 3.1% for the end of this year, while the MEF places this rate at 3.2%.
