According to a report by Phocuswright, a research firm specializing in the tourism industry, one of the reasons for the growth is the country's greater economic stability, due to government policies.

The Brazilian tourism sector is expected to grow by 37% in 2023 in terms of gross booking value, equivalent to 218 billion Brazilian reals (36.1 billion euros) in revenue within the expansion volume, according to a report by Phocuswright, a research firm specializing in the tourism industry.

This document highlights Brazil's role within the Latin American travel market, showing that tourism is on the rise and under the leadership of the Brazilian country. Across the region, the sector grew for the third consecutive year in 2023, with a 29% increase in the gross value of reservations, which in value represents 70.1 billion dollars (67.411 billion euros).

Among the reasons for the growth, according to analysts, is the country's greater economic stability, due to government policies. Figures from the airline sector corroborate this information. In the whole of 2023, Brazil received 5.9 million foreigners, an increase of 62.7% compared to 2022.

The report predicts that the travel market in Latin America will continue to grow, with the gross value of bookings expected to reach $95.8 billion (€92.126 billion) in 2027. Along these lines, Brazil's Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, has assessed that Brazil has everything to remain in the lead, as the figures for 2024 recorded so far already indicate.

"We have seen exponential growth in both domestic and international tourism, especially in Latin America, as a result of the Government's efforts in various actions to promote this segment that is so important for our country's economy," he explained.

This year, the figures will be even higher, as 4.9 million foreigners have visited Brazilian destinations up to September, and October, November and December, important months for the sector, have yet to be calculated. Argentina was the main source country (1.4 million), followed by the United States (518 thousand) and Chile (454,224 thousand).

As well as the number of people, the spending of these tourists also grew, according to calculations by the Central Bank, with a volume of 30 billion reais (4.9 million euros) spent by foreigners in the same period, a growth of 25%, evaluated by the institution as the best result of the period of the last ten years.

Last week, Tourism Minister Celso Sabino and representatives of the country's main airlines announced the renewal of the 'Flight Meet Brazil' program, to expand and diversify the country's air network.

The renewal of the program should benefit tourists who want to enjoy the Brazilian summer with 10.7% more flights available to various destinations in the country, compared to 2023. The number of available seats will also be higher, reaching 29.8 million, 12% more than last year.
