Brazil will register the third largest dollar outflow in its history in 2024

A total of US$15.918 billion left the South American giant last year, a flight only surpassed by the negative balances recorded in 2019 (US$44.768 billion) and 2020 (US$27.923 billion), the Central Bank reported.

The outflow of dollars from Brazil in 2024 reached US$15.918 billion, which represents the third largest annual outflow in history, only surpassed by the negative balances recorded in 2019 (US$44.768 billion) and 2020 (US$27.923 billion), the Central Bank reported.

In the accumulated total for last year, the financial flow was negative by US$ 84,396 million, as a result of foreign currency inflows of US$ 589,989 million and outflows of US$ 674,385 million.

This segment includes foreign direct and portfolio investments, profit remittances and interest payments, among other operations.

On the other hand, the foreign trade balance was positive at US$ 68,478 million in 2024, with imports of US$ 229,978 million and exports of US$ 298,456 million.

Within exports, US$ 33.15 billion were recorded in advances on exchange contracts (ACC), US$ 73.745 billion in advance payments (PA) and US$ 191.561 billion in other inflows.

These data reflect the country's complex economic outlook in terms of currency flows during 2024.
