This measure will be implemented as part of the recent expansion of the mine, which generates 170,000 tons of copper per day.

Chinalco will deepen exploration around the Toromocho pit in Junín, Peru, this year, according to Ronald Flores, the company's Geology supervisor.

He said this measure will be implemented as part of the recent expansion of the mine, which produces 170,000 tons of copper per day.

"We will continue with explorations to determine the grades in depth with the presence of molybdenum and copper. We will continue exploring the northern area and continue deepening explorations in the lower levels," he noted.

Ronald Flores said that Chinalco is focused on brownfield explorations, that is, on land where the mining company has already established itself and produces.

"Perhaps in 2025 an aggressive campaign will be carried out in the central part of the pit, in the northeast part, in order to increase resources," he said.

It should be noted that the Toromocho project is located 4,500 meters above sea level east of Lima, in the district of Morococha, province of Yauli, Junín. It is an open pit mine, has been in operation for 36 years, and is valued at 1.355 billion dollars.
