According to the FNC, production in December alone was 1.79 million bags, which represented a considerable increase of 47% compared to the same month in 2023.

2024 was a positive year for Colombian coffee. The National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) reported that last year ended with a production of 13.99 million bags, which translates into an increase of 23% compared to the immediately previous year, as 2.64 million additional bags were produced.

In December alone, production was 1.79 million bags, which represented a considerable increase of 47% compared to the same month in 2023.

Grain exports also closed in positive territory, as 12.3 million bags were exported in 2024, which implied a variation of 16% compared to the consolidated figure for 2023 (10.58 million bags).

Likewise, December exports alone represent a 20% increase, as foreign trade in grain amounted to 1.28 million bags, exceeding the 1.06 million bags shipped to international destinations during the same month in 2023.

The trade balance not only remains positive for Colombia, but imports are also declining. The FNC report indicates that between January 2024 and December of the same year, 669,000 60-kilogram bags were imported. December saw a special reduction, since while these purchases were counted at 94,000 bags for that month in 2023, for 2024 they were only 26,000, which implied a reduction of 72%.

Domestic consumption, for its part, remained relatively stable. In 2024, Colombians consumed 2.21 million bags of coffee. In December, consumption was 238,000 bags, which was just 0.4% higher than that recorded for the same month in 2023.

Finally, 2024 closed with stocks of 1.75 million bags, which implies 304,000 additional bags to those held in November.
