Peru: Mining exports grew 19% in November 2024, closing at US$ 4.212 billion

Copper sales abroad alone increased by 22.6%

Peruvian mining exports in November 2024 amounted to US$4.212 billion, reflecting a 19% growth compared to the same month in 2023 (US$3.536 billion), the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE) reported today.

The mining and energy association reported that copper exports totaled 2.237 billion dollars last November, a figure that represented a growth of 22.6% compared to November 2023 (1.825 billion dollars).

The SNMPE noted that the increase in copper exports recorded in November was due to the fact that the price of this metal increased by 9.2% and the volume grew by 12.3% compared to the same month in 2023.

On the other hand, he indicated that gold exports reached 1.315 billion dollars in November 2024, which represented an increase of 27% compared to the same month in 2023 (1.035 billion dollars).

The SNMPE reported that exports of this precious metal benefited from a 33.4% increase in its price, despite the fact that the volume registered a 4.8% decrease compared to the same month in 2023.

The mining and energy union announced that mining exports, from January to November 2024, totaled 42.757 billion dollars, representing a growth of 10.3%, when compared to the same period in 2023 (38.774 billion dollars).

He reported that, from January to November, copper exports accounted for 50% of mining products sold abroad.
