Currently, the technical teams of the MTC, LAP and the airport community are working together to determine whether the new airport will be put into operation gradually or in a comprehensive manner.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Peru, through the General Directorate of Transport Programs and Projects, and Lima Airport Partners (LAP) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding that ratifies the new start date of operations of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport.

As agreed, the modern airport terminal will begin operating no later than March 30, 2025. For this reason, and as part of the process, a comprehensive review will be carried out at the end of February to verify compliance with all necessary measures to ensure a safe and orderly transition.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, reported 15 days ago that the rescheduling of the start of operations was a decision coordinated with LAP and the aeronautical community, in which safety, regularity and operational efficiency were prioritized, in line with international civil aviation safety standards.

This additional period will allow for comprehensive operational testing to assess the correct operation of the terminal, identify areas for improvement and apply corrections before opening, as well as continue training to familiarize concessionaire, airline and specialized services staff with the new operational flow.

Currently, the technical teams of the MTC, LAP and the airport community are working together to determine whether the new airport will be put into operation gradually or in a comprehensive manner.

The Government, in coordination with all the actors involved, reaffirms its commitment to guarantee a safe, efficient and orderly transition to the new Jorge Chávez International Airport.
