Mining, the sector that contributes most to the country's exports (63% of the total), increased its export value by 38.5% in January, highlighting higher sales of copper (+47.5%) and gold (+42.1%).

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported today that Peruvian exports reached $6.922 billion in January 2025, growing 30.7% compared to the same month in 2024, thanks to the combined increase in prices and shipped volumes.

Mining, the sector that contributes the most to the country's exports (63% of the total), saw its export value increase by 38.5% in January, with higher sales of copper (+47.5%) and gold (+42.1%). Prices for both minerals were 6.2% and 30% higher, respectively, than those recorded a year earlier.

Similarly, agricultural exports grew 23.7% in the first month of the year, totaling $1.354 billion, due to increased sales of cocoa and cocoa derivatives (up 189.8%) and fruits (up 25.1%) such as grapes (up 59%), mangoes (up 53.3%), and lemons (up 30.1%). Increased cocoa sales from Peru are due to higher prices (up 144%).

In fishing sector exports, which totaled $315 million, the most notable increase was in fishmeal sales (up 72%). Sales of seaweed (up 143%) and scallops (up 111%) also increased due to higher volumes shipped. Flying fish eggs (up 20%) and shrimp (up 8.8%) grew due to higher prices.

Textile/clothing exports grew by 10%. They reached $138 million, thanks to increased sales of fabrics (up 38%), yarns (up 30.1%), fibers (up 3.6%), and clothing (up 6.7%). Meanwhile, metallurgical exports grew by 23.2% due to higher sales of copper products (wires, sheets, strips) and silver.

By January 2025, Peruvian products reached 125 markets, with China accounting for 34% of total exports, primarily minerals such as copper, iron, and gold. The United States (13%) exported products such as blueberries, grapes, and clothing. The European Union (11%) exported goods such as copper, avocado, coffee, cocoa beans, and grapes.
