In the next five years, approximately 40% of distributors' supply contracts will expire.

The National Energy Secretariat has presented a series of plans that will define Panama's energy strategy for the next five years. Among the highlights, it announced the upcoming publication of two key documents that will address fundamental issues for the sector.

The first of these documents will focus on energy strategies, addressing aspects such as sustainable mobility, distributed generation, and universal energy access. This plan seeks to improve electricity coverage in the country and promote the efficient and sustainable use of energy resources.

The second document will address energy bidding, considering that approximately 40% of distributors' supply contracts will expire in the next five years.

The National Energy Secretariat is working on planning an orderly and transparent bidding process, with the goal of promoting greater competition and achieving more competitive energy prices for the country.

With these initiatives, Panama seeks to consolidate a more efficient, sustainable, and equitable energy system, ensuring a reliable and accessible supply for the entire population.
