The commercial relationship between Ecuador and Germany is long-standing, and the German country constitutes a key commercial partner as it contributes with products and technology that drive Ecuadorian industrial development, while our country stands out as a reliable supplier of raw materials and other products.
German entities led by AHK Ecuador organized the Germany-Ecuador Economic Forum in Quito, where trade achievements were shown and the projections that both countries have were discussed.
Regarding the figures, it was noted that in 2023 there is a 31% growth in non-oil exports, since Germany is the third main export market, representing 10% of the non-oil products exported to the European Union. Meanwhile, Germany is the main supplier of Ecuadorian imports of products from the European Union, representing 23% of the total non-oil imported from that bloc.
Bilateral trade determines that in the last 10 years, bananas are the main product exported to Germany, representing 32% of the total (US$ 105 million); and in this way Ecuador is the second supplier of bananas after Costa Rica.
Other export products to the German country are tuna and cocoa, also precious metal minerals with figures that exceed US$ 61 million; while cocoa beans amount to amounts of US$ 40.3 million.
Germany's imports from Ecuador included tropical and subtropical fruits, which even recorded a surplus of US$439.4 million in its trade balance.
