Industrial sector represents more than 12% of Peru's GDP, according to official figures

“The manufacturing industry is a very important activity that promotes economic growth and development. Nations export manufactured products, which favors an increase in income and, therefore, tax revenue,” declared the director of PromPerú.

The industrial sector is one of the most important and represents more than 12% of Peru's gross domestic product (GDP), the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú) said today.

“The industrial sector is one of the most important sectors of the economy, it represents more than 12% of Peru's GDP, it has value-added products, it is an important source of employment at the national level and it has the second largest share of non-traditional exports. Peruvians,” said the director of Export Promotion of PromPerú, Ricardo Limo.

“The manufacturing industry is a very important activity that promotes economic growth and development. “Nations export manufactured products, which favors an increase in income and, therefore, tax revenue,” he added.

During the presentation of the XV International Business Roundtable Industry Peru 2024, which will be held from June 10 to 13, Ricardo Limo highlighted that the industrial sector offers a series of services to other activities such as mining, agribusiness and construction.

“As PromPerú, we provide support to the industrial subsectors of mechanics, iron and steel, chemicals and plastics,” he stated.

“Among the main lines promoted by the foreign trade sector at an international level we have suppliers to mining, auto parts, suppliers to construction, equipment for the food industry and products for personal care and health,” he added.

The official indicated that PromPerú develops activities to strengthen the export capabilities of industrial companies, also provides valuable commercial information and invites them to participate in different fairs and trade promotion events.

“These activities are a public-private coordination effort and seek to enable national entrepreneurs to learn about the latest technological advances, processes, inputs and solutions for production,” he noted.

“It also opens an opportunity for companies to promote their portable offer and have commercial contacts with potential international buyers,” he said.
