A few days ago the Ecuadorian oil company also signed an agreement with a Peruvian company to transport through blocks 16 and 67.

The state oil company Petroecuador, through the Transportation Management, signed with Ecopetrol SA - a Colombian mixed economy company - a contract for the provision of crude oil transportation service through the San Miguel – Lago Agrio (OSLA) and the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE).

This contract signed on May 2 will be valid for three years. It will allow an initial average of 13,250 barrels of Colombian crude oil to be pumped through Ecuadorian pipelines, operated by the public oil company, with an assigned capacity of up to 22,000 barrels per day, by charging an approximate fee of US$3.0455. per barrel, for the benefit of the Ecuadorian State.

The density of the crude oil will be between 25 and 28 degrees API and will have the respective controls for measuring quality and quantity at the entry and exit points of the pipelines.

How will the transfer of crude oil be?

The contract establishes the delivery of oil by Ecopetrol at the river crossing of the San Miguel River (border with Colombia), in the General Farfán sector, province of Sucumbíos, to be subsequently transported by EP Petroecuador to the maritime terminal in Esmeraldas.

Through these actions, joint work between both countries is strengthened, based on the binational agreements in force to promote and facilitate the transportation and export of hydrocarbons.

EP Petroecuador operates the San Miguel – Lago Agrio Pipeline, known as OSLA, which extends from San Miguel on the border between Ecuador and Colombia, to Station No. 1 Lago Agrio of the Trans-Ecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE), in the province of Succumb.

In addition, the public company currently maintains contracts for the transportation of crude oil from southern Colombia through the OSLA with several oil producing companies that operate in the south of that country.

Ecuador will also transport Peruvian oil

Meanwhile, also on May 2, it was learned that Petroecuador and PetroTal signed an agreement for the project to transport Peruvian crude oil through Block 16, in Orellana. For two months, PetroTal will transport (transfer) an estimated 100,000 barrels of Peruvian crude oil through the facilities of Block 16, located in the province of Orellana.

These activities will be possible thanks to the agreement signed this May 1, 2024 between the Peruvian company PetroTal and Petroecuador.

The project consists of transporting oil from Field 95 Brittany located in eastern Peru, through barges, to the Pompeya North Port of Block 16, for subsequent transfer in tank trucks to the Amazonas Station, belonging to the private company OCP Ecuador SA , and culminate with its shipment through the Punta Gorda Maritime Terminal in Esmeraldas. For this service, EP Petroecuador will receive a fee.
