Specifically, starting next January, GR Power, its energy marketing subsidiary in Chile, will supply 0.5 terawatt hours (TWh) of green energy per year to Codelco.

Grenergy has signed a long-term green power purchase agreement (PPA) with Chile's National Copper Corporation (Codelco) for a period of 15 years, the company reported.

Specifically, starting next January, GR Power, its energy marketing subsidiary in Chile, will supply 0.5 terawatt hours (TWh) of green energy per year to the Chilean state-owned mining company, the world's largest copper producer, which has an investment-grade rating.

The renewable energy group noted that this agreement guarantees uninterrupted supply 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The energy will come from the platform being developed in central Chile, which includes various hybrid projects to provide 24-hour power supply, including the 340-megawatt (MW) Monte Águila plant with a BESS storage system.

This new agreement adds to the numerous long-term power purchase agreements the company has signed, such as the one for the Oasis de Atacama project, considered one of the largest in the world and boasting 11 GWh of storage capacity and 2 GW of solar photovoltaic power generation capacity.

Grenergy CEO David Ruiz de Andrés stated that this contract represents "a significant milestone" for the company, "not only because of the magnitude of the agreement, but also because it demonstrates the company's ability to offer clean and highly competitive energy 24 hours a day, seven days a week to major offtakers like Codelco."

"And this is thanks to our firm commitment to batteries, which allow us to offer an affordable, consistent supply that also provides stability to the grid," he added.

With over 12 years of experience in Chile, Grenergy is a leader in the construction of clean energy plants in the country, with nearly 100 projects completed. It currently has a platform with 4.6 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy and 18.3 GWh of storage.
