The Mexican telecommunications industry earned 10,080.24 million dollars in the last quarter of 2023 and of that turnover volume, ten economic groups participated with 96.58% of all revenues in the sector.
The Mexican telecommunications industry, in its fixed and mobile segments as a whole, generated 169,418.4 million pesos (US$ 10,027 million) during the fourth quarter of 2024.
The companies Telcel and Telmex, attached to the América Móvil (AMX) group, participated with 50% of the sector's total income. The first of these companies invoiced the equivalent of 36.8% of the sector's income, while the second registered 15.2% of the income.
The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) reported that Telcel invoiced 62,317.8 million pesos (US$ 3,688 million) in the last quarter of 2023, while Telmex and Telnor earned 25,691.6 million pesos (US$ 1,520 million).
These brands were followed in third place as the main income generator by the company Red Nacional Última Milla, with 6,711 million pesos (US$ 397 million).
Accounting for the operations of the latter company, the entire América Móvil telecommunications group invoiced a total of US$ 15,632 million.
The companies AT&T and Totalplay completed the first five positions of the companies with the highest turnover in the last quarter of 2023. The AT&T group had a turnover of 19,805.7 million pesos (US$ 1,172 million); Totalplay, from Grupo Salinas, earned a total of 8,060.3 million pesos (US$ 477 million).
Grupo Televisa was the sixth company with the highest income: 14,663.3, through all its cable, satellite and mass consumption or business brands. None of Televisa's eight most important brands in the sector made more money than Grupo Salinas' Totalplay.
The Megacable Holdings group generated 8,062.3 million pesos (US$ 477 million) in the combined amount of all its brands, but its main brand, Megacable, had a turnover of 7,330.3 million pesos (US$ 433 million).
Telefónica Movistar was the seventh economic group with the highest income in the sector, with 8,072.5 million pesos (US$ 477 million), through two main brands.
Duono, Axtel and Altán completed the top ten telecommunications brands in Mexico, with 4,380.2 million pesos (US$ 259 million) for the first of these companies; 2,780 million pesos (US$ 164 million) for the second and 1,815 million pesos (US$ 107 million) for the last one.
These ten economic groups, through all their brands, earned a total of 163,618.8 million pesos (US$ 9,684 million); also equivalent to 96.58% of all telecommunications sector billing in the last quarter of 2023.
