The Arab country is interested in investing in renewable energy, logistics services and the creation of a regional distribution hub in Ecuador.

Ecuador points to a new country to conclude a trade agreement. This is the United Arab Emirates, a nation with which it will begin negotiations that are expected to be completed this year, according to the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries.

The head of that State portfolio, Sonsoles García, is in that country within the framework of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is being held in Abu Dhabi, its capital.

The minister made the announcement after meeting with Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Commerce of the United Arab Emirates, with whom she spoke about the potential of the bilateral relationship between both nations.

García revealed that the Emirati minister expressed his country's interest in investing in renewable energy, logistics services and the creation of a regional distribution hub in Ecuador.

"In that sense, we highlight Ecuador's interest in negotiating a trade agreement, to which Dr. Al Zeyoudi proposed starting negotiations with a view to concluding it during the course of this year," said the minister.

The minister has taken advantage of her stay in Abu Dhabi to meet with her counterparts from several countries with which Ecuador has signed and is close to signing trade agreements, such as China, the Dominican Republic, South Korea and Canada.
