Brazil's CPI registered the seventh consecutive month of decline, reaching 3.69% in April

In this context, it is worth noting that the Central Bank of Brazil has decided this week to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the monetary policy rate to 10.5%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Brazil has fallen by 0.24 percentage points in April compared to March, standing at 3.69% year-on-year, this being the lowest level since June of last year, when it stood at 3.16% year-on-year.

With the April data, released this Friday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the country has seven consecutive months in which inflation has registered a downward trend.

In this context, it is worth noting that the Central Bank of Brazil has decided this week to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, bringing the monetary policy rate to 10.5%.

For its part, monthly inflation has been 0.38%, which is 0.16 percentage points above the figure recorded in the previous month. All in all, this is the second lowest figure of the year. In the accumulated of the year, the CPI now reaches 1.8%.

Of the nine spending divisions that make up the index, only residential items experienced a monthly decrease in April, of 0.26%. The largest increases have occurred in food and beverages (0.7%), clothing (0.55%) and communication (0.48%).
